CERT childcare pathway...

What is it?

The childcare pathway is a new training programme that helps you get a foot in the door in the childcare sector.

It is a route into an apprenticeship or employment within a childcare setting like a nursery, pre-school, play group or as a nanny or childminder. Did you know that the starting pay in a full time role in childcare is between £14-24k pa annum?

We will help you to develop your understanding of the childcare sector, increase your skills and confidence in readiness for working in the sector. If you require support with your English and maths we can help you with that too.

Also we'll find you a suitable placement with a childcare employer to give you real-world experience and give you the opportunity to shine.

You'll attend the childcare pathway between two and three days per week for between 12 - 26 weeks undertaking a variety of sessions both learning in small classes and out on placement with an employer. So it's not like school or college!

Is it for me?

If you:
1. Are aged between 16 and 24

2. Don't have more than one A level or a full level 3 qualification

3. Work less than 9 hours per week.

4. Want to get an apprenticeship or a job in the childcare sector

Then the programme is free of charge. You'll meet new friends, develop new skills and get the opportunity to impress an employer that could offer you a job or an apprenticeship. We'll sort out your DBS check for free and you may also receive free lunches, travel and a bursary allowance*. (*subject to eligibility)
