CERT Traineeships

Jack's Story
Chelcie's Story

 Is it for me?

If you are aged 16 to 24 and you are motivated to get a job but you lack some skills or experience that employers are looking for then a Traineeship is ideal for you.

If you have not yet achieved a GCSE Grade C or Grade 4 in English or Maths, don't worry.

A Traineeship gives you the opportunity to boost your results up to a Level 2 which is often required to secure an apprenticeship or employment.

What is it?

A Traineeship is an education and training programme combining work experience with skills training. Traineeships unlock opportunities, develop your potential and support you to become 'work ready' and are a fantastic route into apprenticeships.

Why a Traineeship?

If you don't have the right skills for a job vacancy when you apply, even if it is the career you want to progress into, you may struggle to get an interview. A Traineeship is one of the best ways to get your foot in the door with an employer.

What is CERT's role?

CERT have a key role in coordinating your Traineeship, engaging local employers to offer meaningful work experience placements, delivering the skills training that you need and supporting you to obtain an apprenticeship or employment.

Do I get paid?

You do not get paid a wage while you are on a Traineeship however you may be eligible for a bursary of up to £40 per week depending on your circumstances. Parents can also usually still apply for child benefit.

How to apply?

You can apply if you are:

Aged 16 to 24

Qualified below Level 3

Unemployed and have little or no work experience

Eligible to work in England
